Holiday time! Just make sure to be prepared and stock up on all of your holiday essentials and you will be ready for the sun in no time. Here is our Pharmacist Claire’s checklist to make sure you don’t forget anything:
Sun Protection: sun cream, after sun and sunglasses are a must to bring with you.
Insect Repellent: Jungle formula spray is great, and bug bands (insect repellent bands) are a good option for children.
First Aid: plasters, antiseptic cream (Savlon, Bepantiseptic), antiseptic wipes, Anthisan cream (to treat any insect bites).
Travel Sickness: Kwells travel sickness tablets are great and can be used for age 5+. There are also travel sickness bands, a good option for children.
Medication: It is advisable to take medication for diarrhoea with you (Imodium, Arret) and rehydration sachets (Diorylate). Motilium is good for nausea and vomiting, but please ask your pharmacist first if this is suitable for you to take. Pain relief medication (paracetamol, ibuprofen) is often required when on holiday. Antihistamine tablets (Cetrine, Zirtek, Lorat) are recommended for prickly heat and insect bites and stings. Also please remember to take enough of any prescription medication to last for your entire holiday.
Toiletries: Shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. If travelling with just hand luggage, be prepared for airport restrictions and stock up on travel size toiletries, all must be under 100ml.
