Welcome to the Rory Keating Pharmacy Group. We are an Irish-owned community pharmacy group with three stores supported by over 40 highly motivated employees. We have strong ambitions to continue to grow our community pharmacies and online business. Pharmacy Counter Assistant

Position Details

Summary of Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Deal with customer queries and requests in relation to the sale of over the counter medicines, front of shop items and prescriptions in a polite and courteous manner.
  • Assists the Pharmacy Manager in providing a confidential, friendly, efficient and professional healthcare service to the local community.
  • Assist with over the counter sales and other front of counter duties
  • Give input and assist customers with non-medical products sold within the store e.g. cosmetics, health products etc.
  • Accurately handle monetary transactions.
  • Understand the impact of good customer service on the overall business.

Operational Efficiency

  • Understand any required Operating Procedures within the Pharmacy and align to the procedural requirements where applicable to the role.
  • Maintain the standards and cleanliness within the store as directed by the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Orders, receive and manage stock, check of deliveries against invoices, report any discrepancies and ensure all invoices are ticked and signed.
  • Check and complete price changes daily.
  • Complete daily sheets and sign off once completed.

Organisation & Training

  • Build a strong working relationship with all team members in the pharmacy to ensure a seamless and consistent delivery of service to our customers.
  • Participate actively in any training and development programmes
  • Actively support their own development by building capability in required areas.
  • Understand who are the key stakeholders and communicate effectively at all levels. Ensure communications are clear, understandable and frequent.
  • Take ownership for specific initiatives as assigned.
  • Integrate as part of the team and is a true team player providing support where and as needed.
  • Can provide Pharmacy Counter Assistant cover in any of the R Keating’s locations supporting where and when required.

Business Acumen

  • Understand the concept of link selling and actively contributes to increased OTC sales.
  • Understand the pharmacy business and how the Pharmacy Counter Assistant role fits into and plays a part in R. Keating Pharmacy Group.
  • Deliver to the required R. Keating Group and Store Strategy to enable the business to grow and flourish.
  • Understand the financial impact of decisions taken and strive to drive operational efficiency across all areas of the business.

Pharmacy Technician

Summary of Responsibilities

Keating Pharmacy is an Irish-owned community pharmacy group with 3 stores, over 40 employees and strong ambitions to continue to grow. We are situated in the local communities we serve and understand the importance of what we deliver to our customers and their families. A Pharmacy Technicianat R. Keating’s is a key member of the team and is a key person providing excellent customer and patient care as per the Pharmacy Technician qualification and requirements. Roles & responsibilities included in the role are outlined but not limited to below. 

Professional Practice

  • Understand the Pharmacy Practices and Procedures including the laws and ethics of dispensing.
  • Understand the appropriate PSI controls and regulations and operate within the requirements.
  • Maintain accurate computer records and ensure that the paperwork pertaining to the various schemes is kept up to date and in line with Company procedures.
  • Maintain good stock control including; rotation of stock, maintaining appropriate stock levels, using correct suppliers, and ensuring that the delivery details are correct as set down by the Pharmacy Manager
  • Maintain the standards and cleanliness with the dispensary as directed by the Pharmacy Manager and in line with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Operate all schemes aligned with requirements ensuring timely and accurate submission.
  • Be aware of the scope of the Pharmacy Technician role and of all circumstances needing referral.

Supply of Medicines

  • Receive, record and assemble prescriptions, issue the appropriate receipts working with the Pharmacist to manage complexities or changes.
  • Provide over the counter medicines appropriately recommending suitable medicines referring to the Pharmacist where appropriate.
  • Ensure accuracy in the dispensing process by monitoring, reviewing and taking appropriate action to minimize/eliminate errors.

Customer Service

  • Deal with customers in a professional and efficient manner understanding the standards of customer service required by R. Keating’s.
  • Escalate any issues to the Pharmacy Manager when and where appropriate.
  • Make recommendations on how to improve customer service where appropriate.
  • Assist with over the counter sales and other front of counter duties.
  • Understand the impact of good customer service on the overall business.

Organisation & Training

  • Build a strong working relationship with all team members in the pharmacy to ensure a seamless and consistent delivery of service to our customers.
  • Participate in training and development programmes provided by the pharmacy and be proactive in developing the job function.
  • Actively support their own development and ensure they are qualified, trained, competent and fit to perform functions assigned to them.
  • Build competency and knowledge in any scheme requirements.
  • Understands who are the key stakeholders and communicate effectively at all levels. Ensure communications are clear, understandable and frequent.
  • Take ownership for specific projects or initiatives as assigned.
  • Integrate as part of the team and is a true team player providing support where and as needed.
  • Can cover in any of the R. Keating’s locations supporting where and when required.
