Chairperson’s Charity Impact Statement

Down Syndrome Limerick is parent-led and offers a range of services and supports to people of all ages with Down syndrome. It is a place to share, a place to learn, a place to feel supported. The work is essential and makes such a difference in our member’s lives. Early and regular access to therapies like Speech and Language and Occupational Therapy help our members to communicate and to learn important life skills. Social events allow our members to mix with their peers and form lifelong friendships. Courses, seminars and training provide access to information and support for parents, teachers, SNAs, carers and others involved in the lives of our members. Adult education programmes provide our adult members with the skills necessary to gain meaningful employment and to participate fully in society. This isn’t a charity to us….this is a community; this is family.
