Adults and children 12 years and older: Squeeze 50–125mg (4–10 cm) of gel from the tube onto the affected area and massage gently until it is absorbed. Apply up to 4 times daily, but leave at least 4 hours between doses. Wash your hands after each application.
Do not:
- Apply Nurofen Ibuprofen Gel more than 4 times in 24 hours. (Maximum dose 500mg).
- Use it on broken or inflamed skin, on the lips, genital area or near the eyes.
- Cover the area with bandages, dressings or plasters
Nurofen Ibuprofen Gel is not suitable for children under 12 years. For external use only.
If symptoms persist for more than 7 days you should consult your doctor.
Do not use Nurofen Ibuprofen Gel if:
- You are allergic to ibuprofen or any of the ingredients of Nurofen 5% w/w Gel
- You are allergic to aspirin or other pain relievers known as non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
- You have ever had an asthma attack, rash or runny nose after taking aspirin or any NSAIDs
- You have broken or damaged skin
- You are under 12 years of age
- You are in the third trimester of pregnancy
Please consult your doctor before use if you are pregnant (should not be used in the last 3 months of pregnancy), asthmatic, kidney or liver problems, taking other medicines or receiving regular treatment.
