Enfamil O-Lac for babies with lactose intolerance What is Enfamil® O-Lac? Enfamil O-Lac is nutritionally complete- lactose-free- cow’s milk based special feed for babies who cannot tolerate lactose (milk sugar1)- with symptoms such as: • Colic • Bloating – Wind • Diarrhoea Temporary lactose intolerance can be triggered by an episode of gastroenteritis which may result in diarrhoea and vomiting. This usually lasts from 4-8 weeks. Enfamil O-Lac contains cow’s milk protein and so has the same taste and appearance as routine formula. What is LIPIL®? LIPIL® is a blend of nutrients DHA and ARA- also known as Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids. DHA and ARA are present in breast milk and are important building blocks for baby’s brain and eye. Enfamil O-Lac is the only lactose-free formula available with DHA and ARA added. Warning: For your baby’s health we advise you to carefully follow these instructions. Proper hygiene- preparation- dilution- use and storage are important when preparing infant feeds. Powdered formulas intended for infants are not sterile and should not be fed to premature infants or infants who might have immune problems unless directed and supervised by your baby’s healthcare professional. Always ask your baby’s healthcare professional which formula is appropriate for your baby. Always follow the instructions as per the can. Feeding guide: see can unless your healthcare professional advises you otherwise. Failure to follow these instructions could result in severe harm. Once prepared- formula can spoil quickly. Feed immediately after preparation. Do not use prepared formula if it is un-refrigerated for more than a total of 2 hours. After feeding begins use within 1 hour and do not refrigerate feeding bottle. Throw away prepared formula left in the bottle and clean the utensils. Do not freeze prepared formula When it comes to feeding your baby- breast is best. If you do choose to breastfeed- it’s important to eat a healthy diet. A decision not to breastfeed can be difficult to reverse. Introducing a bottle- even if it’s only for one feed a day- can have a negative effect on breastfeeding and may reduce the supply of breast milk. Always seek the advice of a healthcare professional if you’d like to use infant formula- and please consider the social and financial implications when deciding whether to breast or bottle-feed. To avoid risks to your baby’s health- infant formula should always be prepared- used and stored as instructed on the label.
